Osteopathy - the foundations
I trained as an Osteopath with College of Osteopaths - Borehamwood. Studied cranial techniques and visceral techniques in my final year.
Now studying with Sutherland Cranial college I have completed two modules (2/3 and balanced ligamentous tension), starting their paediatric diploma in 2017!
I treat people of all ages, from babies to older people, both men and women, using a variety of techniques including massage, mobilisation and articulation.
Each treatment package is tailored to you with the aim of reducing any pain and discomfort and increasing your flexibility. A working diagnosis, treatment, preventative advice and rehabilitation is all part of your care. Your care includes a full case history to include any previous medical problems and a list of any medicines, as appropriate. Your treatment will start on your first appointment once this case history has been taken.
NICE guidelines (2009), made recommendations for lower back pain and non specific lower back pain. These included manual therapy as practiced by osteopaths.
A passion and skill of mine is to treat pregnant women and women wanting to get pregnant, to develop good postural habits to enable them to continue to work safely and with minimal pain and discomfort.

I went to see Denise with neck problems - very painful and restricted movement. I was so impressed with the treatment I received from Denise: she sorted out my neck with good humour and genuine care. It was such a relief to be pain free and have movement back in my neck. I came out of the treatment grinning, able to move my neck freely and without pain for the first time in a while.
Denise also discussed how I could continue to improve with stretches and work on preventing the problem happening again.
I would thoroughly recommend Denise to anyone in need of Osteopath treatment.
This afternoon Denise Blount, with the greatest care and professionalism, straightened me out and gave me the gift of pain relief 😊. I suffer with low back pain which had flared up, this evening I'm tender but the crippling pain has gone, I really can't recommend her highly enough 😊
I came to Denise with a niggling back problem that I'd had on and off for the past seven years. Having tried a number of therapies and treatments with little success, I wasn't sure what to expect from trying another osteopath.Over a short course of treatment, I found the pain to be getting better and more manageable. Not only did Denise help me out during my treatment sessions, but also gave me plenty of advice and exercises for keeping up my treatment and managing the pain at home.In addition to being knowledgable and clearly talented in her field, Denise is also easy to get on with and puts you at ease from the very beginning. I'd have no problems recommending her to anyone.
